Taisto Kaasinen (1918–1980) was one of Finland’s leading ceramic artists in the 20th century. He was part of the Nordic tradition aiming for warm-hearted, humorous, and sometimes subtly ironic design. After his art studies, Taisto worked for the Arabia and Upsala-Ekeby factories for more than 25 years. He became a prominent designer of animal and people figurines with rounded shapes and kind expressions. Taisto’s artistry is represented at the numerous museums in the Nordic countries.
