An Overview of Mari Simmulson’s Atoll Series
Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most well-known series is Atoll from 1966. It consists of eight earthenware dishes and vases. They have swelling forms, unglazed brown central sections, and glossy blue glazes. The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was manufactured until 1968. Which of Mari’s Atoll objects is your favorite?
