Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most appreciated series is Djungel (Jungle) from 1953. It consists of 12 earthenware bowls, dishes, and vases. They have modern forms, white glaze, and green/cerise decor.
The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was manufactured only in 1953. Which of Mari’s Djungel objects is your favorite?
