An Overview of Wilhelm Kåge’s Surrea Series
Wilhelm Kåge designed many classics for the Swedish Gustavsberg company. One of the most well-known series is Surrea from 1940. It consists of stoneware bowls and vases.
The Surrea objects have offset forms, white Carrara glaze, and modern expression. Sometimes, golden geometric decor were added to the surface.
Surrea pieces were stamped on the lower side, but usually, the mark has worn off. Which of Wilhelm’s objects is your favorite?
