An Overview of Mari Simmulson’s Sagina Series
Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most well-known series is Sagina from 1959. It consists of seven earthenware bowls and vases. They have gently swelling forms, linear textures, and pastel-colored leafs. The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was manufactured until 1964. Which of Mari’s Sagina objects is your favorite?
