An Overview of Björn Wiinblad’s Aladin Series
Björn Wiinblad (1918–2006) designed many classics for the German Rosenthal company. One of the most appreciated series is Aladin that was manufactured between 1979 and 1983. It consists of twelve plates with 16 cm (6.3 in) in diameter and colorful dreamlike motifs from the ”One Thousand and One Nights” tale. They are made of porcelain with cobalt blue background and golden borders.
The plates are marked on the backside with a motif description, Rosenthal, Germany, and designer signature. Which of Björn’s Aladin pieces is your favorite?
