Monica Backström (1939–2020) designed many classics for the Swedish Kosta Boda glassworks. One of the most well-known series is Tonga from 1998. It consists of 15 objects: bowls, candleholders, dishes, glasses, pitchers, plates, and vases. They are made of clear glass and hand-painted brown/black/yellow decors reminiscent of ancient civilizations.
The Tonga series was manufactured until 2009. Which of Monica’s objects is your favorite?
