An Overview of Mari Simmulson’s Senegal Series

Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most appreciated series is Senegal from 1957. It consists of five earthenware bowls and vases. They have mottled brown backgrounds and incised white stairs decors.

The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was manufactured until 1960. Which of Mari’s Senegal objects is your favorite?
