Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most well-known series is Smaragd (Emerald) from 1968. It consists of five earthenware bowls, dishes, and vases. They have gently quadratic forms, green glazes, and dot relief patterns. The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was manufactured only in 1968. Which of Mari’s Smaragd objects is your favorite?
