Danish-born Ingrid Vang Nyman illustrated many children’s books in the mid-20th century. Some of her most beloved drawings come from the Pippi Longstocking books by Astrid Lindgren. The colorful illustrations depict Pippi’s zany adventures in an idyllic Swedish small-town setting.
During the 1990s, the Swedish company Rörstrand used her illustrations to decorate household items made of porcelain, glass, plastic, and steel. Many of the pieces are marked with the older Rörstrand stamp, along with ‘Sweden’ and ‘Ingrid Vang Nyman.’ Which of her household items is your favorite?
