Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) is strongly associated with her time as a designer for Upsala – Ekeby in 1949–1972. But her Swedish career began at Gustavsberg in 1945 after arriving as a refugee from the war-torn European continent.
In 1946, Mari presented a series of eleven animals. They are made of stoneware with rounded shapes and joyous expressions. Many of the figurines are available in several color schemes. The production of the animals was discontinued after only a few years, probably due to Mari's transfer to Upsala-Ekeby.
