Paul Hoff's Series "Arctic” – An Overview
In the early 1980s, Paul Hoff started designing the "Arktis” (Arctic) series for the Gustavsberg Porcelain Factory. The figurines depict animals from the northern latitudes. The name Arctic describes the large sea area (Arctic Ocean) around the North Pole and surrounding land areas.
The series consists of ten lifelike animal figurines. They are made of stoneware with hand-painted decor. All figurines, except the snowy owl, the orca whale, and the walrus, are still in production - now at the Ceramic Studio Gustavsberg.
