An Overview of Tapio Wirkkala’s Ultima Thule Series
Tapio Wirkkala (1915–1985) designed many classics for the Finnish Iittala company. One of the most well-known series is Ultima Thule from 1968. It consists of glass housewares: drinking glasses, pitchers, decanters, candle holders, bowls, dishes, and plates. They are made of clear glass with icy relief surface and modern expression.
