
Lisa Larson’s bulldogs are among her most beloved and well-known figurines. The bulldogs come in all shapes and sizes, but they all have swelling form and a kind expression. Lisa designed her first bulldog in 1959 as part of the Large Zoo series (Swedish name “Stora zoo”). It was made of chamotted stoneware with glossy glaze in mottled golden brown tones. The height is 13 cm (5.1 inches). This bulldog was produced in 1960-68 by the Gustavsberg factory. It is no longer in production. Chubby and charming!

In 1972, Lisa designed three bulldogs in as part of the Kennel series. They are called Mini, Midi and Maxi according to their relative sizes. The bulldogs were made of chamotted stoneware with matte glazes in earthy tones. Their heights are 7 cm (2.8 inches), 14 cm (5.5 inches) and 35 cm (13.8 inches) respectively. They were produced in the 1970s and 80s by the Gustavsberg factory. Since 1991, the Mini and Maxi bulldogs are still produced by Keramikstudion Gustavsberg in brown and gray colors. Legendary art pieces!

Lisa designed a her last bulldog in 1995 as part of the K-studio Kennel series. It is made of chamotted stoneware with matte brown or gray glaze. The height is 10 cm (3.9 inches). This bulldog is still produced by Keramikstudion. Even Lisa Larson figurines can be grumpy some days!
