An Overview of Anita Nylund's Vår lilla stad (Our Small Town) Series
Anita Nylund designed the ”Vår lilla stad” (Our Small Town) series in the 1950s for the Jie-Keramik factory outside of Helsingborg. The flintware series consists of 17 jars, one pepper shaker, and one sugar sifter. The objects had rounded shapes, colorful town themes, and wooden lids. The motifs came from Anita’s home town of Lidköping, where her father Gunnar was the well-known artistic leader for the Rörstrand factory. Seven of the jars were made for the English market. The last jar – ”Melles marmelad” (Melle’s Marmalade”) were added as late as 1990. Our Small Town, with its kindhearted expression, still adorns many Swedish collector’s homes today.
