An Overview of Mari Simmulson’s Onyx Series

Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most well-known series is Onyx from 1963. It consists of seven earthenware bowls and vases. They have a gently swelling form, brown clay, and bluish black top segment. The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was produced until 1965. Which of Mari’s Onyx objects is your favorite?
