Heljä Liukko-Sundström (1938–) designed many classics for the Finnish Arabia company. One of the most well-known series is the Äidin Kuppi (Mother's Cup) series. It consists of six cups which were launched one per year between 1977 and 1982. They are made of porcelain with rounded forms, calm color schemes, and kind-hearted motifs.
The model was designed by Gunvor Olin-Grönqvist. On the lower side, the cup and saucer are marked with Arabia, Finland, year, designer names, and the phrase ”For Mother” in English, Finnish, German, and Swedish. Which Äidin Kuppi is your favorite?
