Oiva Toikka (1931–2019) has designed many classics for the Finnish glassworks of Nuutajärvi and Iittala. One of the most well-known series is Kastehelmi (Dewdrops) from 1964. It consists of uni-colored utility glass with a spherical relief pattern and joyous expression.
Nuutajärvi manufactured Kastehelmi until 1988 in eight colors: blue, brown, clear, dark green, gray, light green, red, and turquoise. In 1995–1996, a few plates and bowls made a comeback on the American market. Since 2010, Iittala manufactures the series with the addition of new models and colors designed by Oiva.
