An Overview of Mari Simmulson’s Mona Series

Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most well-known series is Mona from 1971. It consists of four earthenware bowls, dishes, and vases. They have rough surfaces, sparsely applied white glazes, and blue inner layers. The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). Which of Mari’s Mona objects is your favorite?
