An Overview of Mari Simmulson’s Patina Series

Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most well-known series is Patina from 1967. It consists of seven earthenware dishes, pots, and vases. They have gently quadratic forms, rough textures, and incised turquoise geometric decors. The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was manufactured until 1968. Which of Mari’s Patina objects is your favorite?
