Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most well-known series is Maj (May) from 1953. It consists of ten earthenware bowls and vases. They have milky white glazes, incised relief patterns, and graphic black/green decors. The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was manufactured until 1958. Which of Mari’s Maj objects is your favorite?
