An Overview of Mari Simmulson’s Korall Series

Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most well-known series is Korall (Coral) from 1967. It consists of six earthenware bowls, dishes, and vases. They have segmented shapes, unglazed brown sections, and incised geometric patterns in orange or white colors. The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was manufactured until 1970. Which of Mari’s Korall objects is your favorite?
