An Overview of Mari Simmulson’s Ester Series

Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most well-known series is Ester from 1959. It consists of six earthenware bowls and vases. They have sparse white glazes, rough textures, and colorful flower decors. The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was manufactured until 1961. Which of Mari’s Ester objects is your favorite?
