Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most appreciated series is Violetta from 1971. It consists of nine earthenware bowls, dishes, and vases. They have modern forms and mottled purple glaze.
The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was manufactured only in 1971. Which of Mari’s Violetta objects is your favorite?
