An Overview of Saara Hopea’s Nyppylä Series
Saara Hopea designed Nyppylä (Knobs) in 1952 during the golden era of Finnish glass. The Nuutajärvi company then manufactured the series until 1976. It consists of four bowls with flared cylinder forms and relief decors of knobs in five rows. They come in a multitude of colors: brown, clear, dark blue, gray, green, petroleum blue, turquoise, and yellow.
The Nyppylä objects were only marked with a Nuutajärvi sticker. Which of Saara’s bowls is your favorite?
