An Overview of Mari Simmulson’s Pikea Series

Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most well-known series is Pikea from 1960. It consists of six earthenware bowls and vases. They have gently swelling forms, sand/blue glazes, and linear decors. The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was manufactured only in 1960. Which of Mari’s Pikea objects is your favorite?
