An Overview of Wilhelm Kåge’s KAPA Objects
Wilhelm Kåge designed many classics for the Swedish Gustavsberg company. Some of the most well-known objects are those with KAPA marks. The design was a collaboration with his three colleagues in the studio: Björn Alskog, Axel Pettersson, and Birger Arvidsson. On the lower sides, the pieces were marked KAPA from the first letters in the surnames: Kåge, Alskog, Pettersson, and Arvidsson.
The KAPA bowls and vases were made of porcelain with sturdy forms and relief decors. They were glazed with muted colors like blue, brown, green, and yellow. The series was in production until 1962.
