An Overview of Monica Backström’s Chicken Family

Monica Backström (1939–2020) has designed many classics for the Swedish glassworks in Boda and Kosta. One of the most well-known series is the chicken family from the 1970s. It consists of four figurines: Two hens ”Laura” of different sizes, one rooster, and one chick. The rounded birds were hand-blown with added parts, and then rolled in polychrome glass powder. On the surface, they were marked with a Boda or Kosta label. Which of Monica’s chickens is your favorite?
