Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most appreciated objects are the playing card bowls from 1957. They are made of earthenware with a gently rectangular form, white glaze, and black/red women decors.
The playing cards are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, the model number 4253, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was manufactured until 1958. Which of Mari’s bowls is your favorite?
