An Overview of Mari Simmulson’s Iris Series

Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most well-known series is Iris from 1956. It consists of six earthenware bowls, dishes, and vases. They have gentle hourglass forms, white glazes, and colorful geometric decors. The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was manufactured until 1957. Which of Mari’s Iris objects is your favorite?
