An Overview of Wilhelm Kåge's Faience Series

Wilhelm Kåge and Stig Lindberg launched the faience series in 1942 with the exhibition "Faiences during the Spring" in Stockholm. The objects were made of earthenware with milky white glazes and strong colored geometric or floral patterns. They came in a great range of motifs, color settings, and sizes.



The faiences were molded or thrown, and then decorated by hand in the Gustavsberg Studio. They were signed with the ”Studio hand”: brown color for Wilhelm and blue color for Stig.

The faience series became a huge success in Sweden and abroad. Which object is your favorite?
