Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most appreciated series is Malta from 1966. It consists of nine earthenware bowls, dishes, and vases. They have sturdy forms, green/blue glaze, and rough texture.
The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was manufactured until 1967. Which of Mari’s Malta objects is your favorite?
