Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most well-known series is Nigeria from 1957. It consists of six earthenware bowls and vases. They have mottled brown backgrounds and incised white leaf decors. The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was manufactured until 1960. Which of Mari’s Nigeria objects is your favorite?
