An Overview of Mari Simmulson’s Rusticana Series

Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most well-known series is Rusticana from 1963. It consists of six earthenware bowls, jars, and vases. They have a gently swelling form, rough surface, and linear relief. The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was produced until 1965. Which of Mari’s Rusticana objects is your favorite?
