Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most well-known series is Mariana from 1959. It consists of eight earthenware bowls, dishes, vases and wall plaques. They have sturdy forms, muted colors, and woman motifs. The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was manufactured until 1964. Which of Mari’s Mariana objects is your favorite?
