Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s to 1970s. One of the most appreciated series is Cardus from 1967. It consists of ten earthenware bowls, dishes, vases, and wall plaques. They have sturdy forms, brown rough clay, and colorful flower decor.
The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Mari’s mark (MS or Maris). The series was manufactured until 1969. Which of Mari’s Cardus objects is your favorite?
