Lars Bergsten was one Sweden’s distinguished ceramists of the 20th century. In the 1950’s, he started his own studio in Eskilstuna in central Sweden. He soon became known for his wall plaques with animal or people motifs. They are often made of reddish earthenware with rough-hewn forms, earthy glazes, and subtly humorous expressions.
The wall plaques are usually marked with his name on the back side. Which of Lars’ objects is your favorite?
