Karl Heinz Schultz-Köln (born 1921 in Cologne, Germany, died 2013) studied at the Cologne School of Applied Art and the Nuremberg Academy of Fine Arts. He began work at Arabia in 1950, serving as an assistant to Kaj Franck until 1954, when he was given his own studio in the Art Department, where he worked until 1960.
Schultz-Köln made one-off wall plaques, applying the abstraction and constructivism of the 1950s painting to ceramic material. The texture of his pieces was constructed with various materials, including sand, chamotte paste, and glazes. He also designed vases that could be turned upside down and electro-technical porcelain.
