Kaj Franck (1911–1989) was one of Finland’s leading glass and ceramic artists in the 20th century. He was part of the Nordic design tradition aiming for more beautiful every day goods for everybody. After his art studies at the Central School of Industrial Arts in Helsinki, Kaj worked for the Arabia, Nuutajärvi, and Iittala factories for more than 30 years. He was a prominent functionalist designer using clean lines and strong colors. Kaj’s artistry is represented at the numerous museums in the Nordic countries.
