Hjördis Oldfors (1920–2014) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s. One of the most well-known series is Oas (Oasis) from 1958. It consists of seven earthenware vases and bowls. They have gently swelling forms, yellow glaze, and polychrome linear decor. The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Hjördis’s mark (”Hj” in a circle). The series was only manufactured in 1958. Which of Hjördis’ Oas objects is your favorite?
