Hjördis Oldfors (1920–2014) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s. One of the most well-known series is Lian from 1958. It consists of seven earthenware bowls and vases. They have swelling forms, unglazed clay, and yellow linear relief pattern. The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Hjördis’s mark (”Hj” in a circle). The series was manufactured until 1960. Which of Hjördis’ Lian objects is your favorite?
