An Overview of Hjördis Oldfors’ Edfu Series
Hjördis Oldfors (1920–2014) designed many classics for the Swedish Upsala-Ekeby company in the 1950s. One of the most well-known series is Edfu from 1960. It consists of four earthenware bowls, dishes, and vases. They have geometric forms, dark brown glaze, and yellow net relief. The items are deep stamped on the lower side with UE, model number, and Hjördis’s mark (”Hj” in a circle). The series was manufactured until 1961. Which of Hjördis’ Edfu objects is your favorite?
