Heljä Liukko-Sundström (1938–2024) was one of Finland’s leading ceramic artists in the 20th century. She was part of the Nordic tradition aiming for warm-hearted and joyous design. After her art studies at the Institute of Industrial Art in Helsinki, Heljä worked for the Arabia factory for more than 40 years. She was a prominent designer of wall plaques with playfulness, naïve expression, and sometimes mild sadness. Heljä's artistry is represented at numerous museums in the Nordic countries.
