Gunnar Cyrén (1931–2013) designed many modern classics for the Swedish Orrefors company. Some of the most appreciated glasswares are the Devil Glasses (Djävulsglas). The shot glasses were designed in 1996 for the Nobel Prize banquet. They have sculptural form with different color schemes and golden details. The height is 16 cm (6.3 in) and the diameter is 5 cm (2.0 in). Besides the shot glasses, there are also champagne glasses with devil motifs.
The first seven devil glasses were launched in 1996, They were then joined by eleven annual glasses between 2008 and 2018. In addition to these, there are a few limited edition pieces.
The devil glasses are signed on the lower side with GC (Gunnar Cyrén) and the painter’s mark. Which ”Djävulsglas” is your favorite?
